Tuesday, March 20, 2012 Washington, D.C. – Congressman Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico’s Third District released the following statement on the House Republican budget that was released today. “Last year, I opposed the Budget Control Act that resulted in deep budget cuts across the board, cutting funding to Los Alamos National Lab and slashing investments in innovation and education. Unfortunately, the House Republican budget calls for even deeper cuts than were negotiated in the Budget Control Act, and further threatens critical programs, funding, and jobs that are vital to New Mexico’s economy. “In addition, the Republican budget, which includes more tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires, doubles down on Congressional Republicans’ attempt to end the Medicare guarantee and shifts costs onto the backs of New Mexico seniors.” # # # |
