Luján Demands Resignation of Secretary Acosta
Washington, D.C. – Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement demanding the resignation of Labor Secretary Alex Acosta:
“Secretary Acosta stonewalled justice and allowed a serial child predator to escape punishment. He must resign.
“It took bravery and courage for the women who accused Jeffrey Epstein to speak out about his unconscionable abuse – courage and bravery that Secretary Acosta clearly lacks.
“It was a new low for the Trump administration to knowingly appoint an individual complicit of such heinous crimes to the Cabinet. It is now incumbent on the administration to strip Secretary Acosta of his title and office. While this will not fully heal the wounds that have been caused, it will help create a reality where individuals who protect their friends and political allies from justice will not be tolerated.”
