Lujan Statement at the Start of 114th Congress

Washington, D.C.  – Congressman Ben Ray Luján of New Mexico’s Third District released the following statement today after being sworn in as a member of the 114th Congress.

“As we start the new Congress it is a tremendous honor to serve the people of New Mexico and to have the opportunity to again represent our great state.  In New Mexico we are a family, and to solve the challenges we face we need to work together, from every level of government to the private sector.  We all have a role to play and I will be working hard in Washington and in the district to diversify and strengthen our economy to provide more opportunities to hard-working New Mexicans.

“I will continue to be a strong advocate for our national labs by supporting important scientific research and development and fighting for funding for environmental cleanup.  We must continue to invest in clean energy to take advantage of New Mexico’s abundant renewable resources that can power our economy and create good jobs in our communities.  And I’ll continue to focus on our agricultural and traditional communities, supporting our farmers and ranchers and the products they grow that are a vital part of our economy and our culture.

“The values of family and hard work that I learned growing up in New Mexico will guide me every day as I work on behalf of the people I am honored to represent.”
