Luján Statement on Preserving a Free and Open Internet

Washington, D.C. – U.S. House Assistant Speaker Ben Ray Luján (D-NM) issued the following statement on the passage of the Save the Internet Act

“A free and open Internet is an essential component of a free and open society. The lack of strong net neutrality protections could result in unjust disparities in how different communities use the Internet - with the rich given access to faster speeds and potentially more content. That is unacceptable. Accessing these resources is a necessity for innovation and advancement, and, if our nation is to lead, our digital economy cannot just be for the privileged few. We must bridge the digital divide and protect an open internet so that the entrepreneurs, innovators, and scholars of the future have the tools to succeed.”
